Very nice. That looks in amazing condition. Big money but find another.
A mates dad had a series of 535i E34s when I was at college. That was until the day he had a tough time against a GSI 24v Carlton. Went straight out and bought an M5! A different league to the Fords and Vauxhalls I was brought up on.
Inspired my first BMW bought, a 1995 525i Sport in Daytona Violet. Superb car.

That's huge money, very optimistic I think - and I've so much love for a good E34. E.g. a later (24v) 525i with the manual box is a splendid, nicely balanced car - and totally usable: enjoyable still as a daily and also one that you can take out to drive for pleasure.

I had nearly 7 yrs with an e34 540, and loved it (details still in profile). I'd do it again in a heartbeat for the right E34, all I need is the garage space...

Saw this when it was posted in the wrong forum and I would not have seen it if it was only posted here!

I used to have one just like that 16 years ago (same spec, red, black leather interior). Looked immaculate and I liked the car a lot until it started to get unreliable due to starship mileage so I traded it in.

Or go auto with cloth and non-sport for 10k https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1238763

Or manual 530i with cloth https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1351225

I think the OPs car is a lovely example but for me personally, I’m not sure what the manual brings to the party on heavy car like the 535i - I’d much prefer the auto.

Oh you wouldn't - the old 4HP22 is a real old slusher. All those old M30's are a different car with the manual box.

“Happen I would”

It’s still an old bus though, imho - my 525iA perhaps would benefit from a manual as the M50 engine is much freer reviving, but I’ve had a 635csi and at no point did I think a manual would be a benefit.

Mine was a manual. I converted an E28 M535i as well - just a different car.

540i = V8. (M60B40)

No 545/550i.

Was the 4HP22 the one that fail if you let it idle too long in park or neutral? (such as when setting the ignition timing on an 525e!) Only made that mistake once.

Yes, but only when they were older and a bit worn.

Identical to my dad's one, though his only has around 60k miles.
Fantastic car, 17inch Alpina alloys save using the expensive TRX rubber.
