F11 530d remapping. Worth doing?
Discussion
Hi folks, back in a BMW. Lovely 530d M sport touring as the workhorse, taking over from quite frankly a phenomenal Audi 3.0 tdi A6 lemans (240,000 miles and still tight as a drum) anyway, I digress, the Audi had been stage 1 remapped by revo. The thing pulled like a train but I don’t know whether that was due to the remap or that the Audi was naturally like that.
Anyone had theirs done? Worth doing? I don’t want to blow it to bits but would be nice to have the immediate grunt the Audi has.

Hi Mike, just thought i'd throw in my 2p - in my opinion (opinions being like a
holes, etc) could you be opening yourself up to a world of pain when the massive amount of torque starts finding weaker components and breaking them? The 530d is already a quick car.
If you are after an instant neck snapping acceleration the moment you press the throttle then maybe a turbo diesel is the wrong engine - in my experience you still have the same lag while the turbo spools up, it just kicks you harder when it eventually gets going
Having said that I have no actual experience with a remapped 530d so what do I know! Just some things to consider

Not sure if the 530d has the same engine and turbo set up at the 535d and 635d. I have a 2009 635d with a stage one, dpf removed and it’s a real world amazing drive. Think it’s easily 330-340bhp. Returns 39-40mpg. I do 80 miles a day on the motorway and it makes it an effortless cruiser with bags or torque. Even in sixth. It’s all on 180k plus miles

No, x35d/ x40d is the 3.0 liter engine with twin sequential turbos, while the x30d uses a single turbo.Mr_Yogi said:

I'm not technical, but these guys are doing 1000's per week and are a big concern with good reviews.
It makes me smile when I drive it. If you drive any car like a nutter for long enough it will break, chipped or not.

i had my 2010 E92 330d 245ps remapped years back by DMS ... 305hp ... and felt every bit of that. No issues, smooth and seriously changed the car into something rapid.
I took the map off though and enjoyed it more as I could extend it loads more = more driving fun. I drove loads of 530d tourings at work and loved them in all incarnations since 2005 ... always felt an ideal amount of power, whether it be the 225 ish hp right up to the 255 ish hp ... a great engine well suited to the size of car.
I would leave standard tbh if it was today even though my DMS map was great.
