Help! E89 Brake judder when harsh braking
Discussion
Hi all,
I’m hoping someone out there can shed some light on a problem I’m having with my 2010 e89 z4 35i.
As back ground I changed the brake pads and discs with oem right after buying the car (has around 85k miles) around 4 months ago, about a week after changing the pads and discs and properly bedding them in I took the car out to the back roads and drove it hard for maybe half hour, got the car hot, the brakes started to smoke.
Since then I’ve had an issue where once the brakes are warm any hard stopping makes the car judder, if I continue to brake hard the juddering gets worse and worse but the brakes don’t seem to fade in any way. I’ve been told also that, when pulling in from some spirited driving the discs were glowing a little but only in patches.
I’m assuming I’ve over heated them but I’m unsure if it’s the pads or the discs or both, I’d rather not replace everything again as they cost a pretty penny.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Try giving them a spirited drive to clean them up, kill or cure (know any quiet dual carriageways with a roundabout at each end?), it could be that the brakes got hot before and then if you stopped and had your foot on the brakes that can leave areas of pad material which will give the rumbling issues.
