E46 headlight/taillight issues
Discussion
First I’ll start with the less important issue. Taillight lights both showing on dash. One side is intermittent (more often on than not) and the other side is permanently on and I think i’m right to believe this is usually shown to indicate a bulb in need of replacement, which one of them is. However the other side lights up fine which is why I’m unsure what to do about it.
Second issue is the auto levelling of the xenon headlights and is a more recent problem. The lights only shine about 10ft in front of the car and don’t rise up when I switch them on as they previously did. Once or twice I’ve noticed them move slightly up when switching them on but no where near what they should.
Apparently the sensor for this is located on the control arm? is it likely the sensor that is in need of replacing or the motor that moves the beam when switching them on?
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance. The car is 2001 330i prefacilft saloon if that helps.

Don't know about your first problem but as the bulbs are cheap I would change both, clean the connections to remove corrosion and keep an eye on them.
Re the xenon levelling sensor it comes as a unit from BMW. Usually it's the arm that has rusted, weakened and broken. But it's not available separately.
Easy to swap out
