Looking to buy 320D
Discussion
Looking to buy a 320D. 91k miles full MOT History with 12 month MOT ITs 2013 luxury edition 2L.
Seems very nice condition and I’m very much interested but it’s £5000. Which is low. I’ want to buy it to upgrade from my fiat punto. (Lol) but I’m concerned about the timing chain issue. Is this still a good buy? Don’t want to buy it and within months have to fork out £2k.
Would be great to know if it’s worth a buy. He said there’s no rattle with the chain or anything but I don’t believe it’s been replaced as of yet.

How much cheaper is it than the average price for a similar model?
If it's considerably cheaper than similar models, then surely it would be raising suspicions?
All N47s are at risk of the timing chain issue, as well as the EGR cooler issue...but they have been to break without any notice...so it could be perfectly fine now, and still break in a week.
The only way you may cover yourself is to check the service history in detail and invest in a BMW Insured Warranty...but that may be more expensive than getting the timing chain done!
If it's substantially cheaper than the rest, consider it as a saving that you can instantly spend on a service & timing chain so that you know it's good for another 100,000 miles.
