Hi all,

I have a F30 330d, and the service is due.
Due to a new role where I WFH and only go to the office one day every 2 weeks (due to car sharing), what would the best oil be?
Would any 5w30 synthetic be acceptable?

Previous service I put in MPM fully synthetic (General Traffic due to a nice discount) for long life service.

Would this be recommended or something else like Millers or She’ll Helix etc.

Thank you

We would use LL04 5w30 (Fuchs)

LL04 is something that I have seen come up on my research.
So would an LL04 5w30 be acceptable?

Forgot to add, car has done 113000 miles.

IMO, ANY LL04 5W30 is more than fine; just keep the oil changes regular rather than BMWs stupid mileage and you'll be fine...

I personally use TripleQX and have done for years now with all my BMWs; I used to be a 'labelled oil only' person, but you're just throwing money at advertising...

As long as the oil meets the necessary criteria, use that...

I stick to Mann filters personally and change my oil twice a year for peace of mind; it's cheaper than one full tank of VPower!

This is my view.

If the oil meets LL04 (Long Life 2004) BMW spec then it's fine and change at 12 months or 10,000 miles with a new filter.

As above - using 5w30 LL04. Used to use 0w30 earlier, but for UK climate there is little reason to and I never noticed any fuel consumption differences. I've used Castol with the 'M' designation, but any oil meeting the specification will be fine.

My view too. The oil can be had for sensible money from the likes of Opie.
