A few weeks ago I was driving along and my dash cam which is hard wired into the fag lighter fuse kept switch off then back on again so I plugged my phone into the fag lighter socket and that kept charging then not charging. When I got where I was going I switched the engine off and the battery symbol came on for a couple of seconds. Very strange I thought. It didn’t repeat this again for a couple of weeks but then did it again so while it was doing it I plugged Carly in and found it was going from 11.5 to 14.5 volts and back to 11.5 again. My initial thought was the alternator was in its way out but after doing some googling it seems it could be the Intelligent battery sensor.
Has anybody else had similar symptoms and can confirm or reject my suspicions before I order a replacement negative battery cable.
Thanks.

You need to find the fault code. If there is a fault there should be a fault logged. Without that you will be guessing. Also the fault may just indicate a wiring fault rather component failure depending on the fault.

Yes, don’t know why I didn’t think to scan for codes before rolleyes There are 3 which look relevant and won’t clear.

I’ve disconnected the blue plug that comes out of the sensor just to establish whether it’s the culprit or not. It is as the car has been fine all week. I was going to replace it but can’t see the point so I’m just going to leave it disconnected.
