M340i wind noise
Discussion
I’ve been thinking of getting something a bit smaller than my G30 540i, and have tried an M340i. My G30 has almost no wind noise at any speed, but I thought the M340i was relatively noisy in that respect from around 50 mph and upwards.
Is the M340i prone to wind noise from the mirror/door area, or is it possible that particular car had a faulty door seal?
Thanks.

Can't help with the G series, but I have a F11 530d and girlfriend has a F31 330d. Both touring's with the same engine, same age and almost the same mileage.
The refinement is night and day, not just wind and road noise but engine noise too, even with my car having the panoramic sunroof.
Wind noise is a known problem with the F30\31 generation, especially around the mirrors. I had heard the new 3 series was much better on that front, but not much difference from between the F11 and G31, so the gap should have closed.

I used to have a F31 335d which I replaced with a G21 M340i and, to use your phrase, the difference in refinement is night and day - the later car with the acoustic glazing is much better IMO. That said I can't say I ever found wind noise to be a particular problem with the F31 - for me it was always road noise that was the biggest issue. And I certainly don't find wind noise to be intrusive on my current car so I think the OP's right to try another one before dismissing the M340i!The refinement is night and day, not just wind and road noise but engine noise too, even with my car having the panoramic sunroof.

I have a Nov 2020 G20 M340i and find the wind noise very disappointing. The worst car i have had for wind noise from around the mirror area for a long time. the issues are between 55MPH and 80 MPH, after that its not so noticeable.
Its been into BMW, but they dismissed it. Strangely it seems worst during warm weather. Wet and cold weather no issue.

G21 Alpina B3 here, so based on the M340i and since I don't have pano, I believe the interface between the windscreen and roof ought to be identical between the cars (B3's with pano get a wind deflector at the front of the roof).
I say this because though my car doesn't, as far as I've noticed, suffer from much whistle from the wing mirrors, it does from the area just in front of the rear view mirror, above about 50mph. There's no loose seal or anything else that I can identify as the cause.
