I've taken delivery of a new 128ti a couple of months ago. The car seems to jolt/kick when trying to engage the gear after changing down.

BMW say this is normal behaviour but the test vehicle I drove didn't have this issue. What is going on with it, is it normal?

My M135 X drive does this. Slow moving traffic on the motorway, and it feels like someone has kicked the rear of the drivers seat. Mind you, my old 340i did this as well.

Its not so harsh in Eco mode and has nothing to do with driving style.

That is in deep what happens, but seems to happen when I come off the accelerator peddle and put my foot back down. Usually either from braking at an approaching roundabout and then accelerating to go around it or coming off the accelerator to allow the car to coast over a hump before pushing down again.

Is it really that normal for the car? They took it in to BMW for a week at the local dealer to try and see and they said that they didn't think it was right but BMW said it is normal.

Nope it's not acceptable.

BMW have a real problem with this and Mini Roundabouts IMO. biggrin

The response I got from the tech was that it wasn't normal (alledgidly he managed to locate another 128ti even though they haven't had one for 4 months) and he drove that and it did the same. They sent a case through to BMW who said it was within working parameters and nothing could be done.

He implied it was a software issue that it was agreesive with it's changes and not a hardware problem.

What can I do? The car is a lease also not mine.

I haven't heard of the Mini Roundabout.
Is this a new BMW effort to fleece the gullible into buying another type of small vehicle?

Mines a Lease as well .

The engine to gearbox response time to an obstacle is not a nice place to be in with BMW. Software issue? ....... its their problem . Why would I spend 40k on a car that needs a remap. Comedy gold

No it’s not, just a little lost as to whom to complain to have something done about it.
