As above

Early 2020 G31, the "furry" bit of each front door seal is looking moth eaten and progressively falling off leaving bare rubber underneath.

Consequently Im also getting more motorway wind noise and am noticing the car steams up after being left in the rain so there is obvs water ingress

Car is never commuted and so Ive never abused it in the morning frost with either hot water or brute force to open a stuck door - although I imagine this may now be necessary as its not completely watertight any more

Its due a service soon but before I talk to the dealer with anticipated disappointment wonder if anyone has heard of this before and how it panned out

Cheers

With a sample of N=2 (F90 and G31) I have not experienced what you have, and would suggest that it is a faulty batch or a specific defect, either way to be covered by the warranty.

OP update

Its a shocker and no mistake

All 4 doors show signs of water ingress with resulting damage to the furry felt bit on the top of each one

Interestingly the worst affected is the OSR door which is easily the least often used on account of us having been a family of 3 since I took delivery of the car

Will talk to dealer when I book the 2y service
Cant see seals and furry felt strips being hard to find when the time comes, unless Im mistaken........

Cheers

Never had that in 19 years on my old E36. They had the ‘furry’ seals, and were excellent. F30 plain seals seemed squeaky at first, but now are OK, although to be honest, I rarely open the windows.

Hope it goes well with the dealer, hopefully better than with our experience with Ford. The weather seals around the doors are falling off of our Focus and started to when it was two years old. Not covered under warranty as it’s ‘trim’ , I could see why this would be if it were a seat or a vent that was broken or damaged in some way but I don’t see how a user could do something that makes a stuck on rubber seal on the bottom of a door fail

Wet carpets come as standard since at least the e39 (circa 1998).

Saying that my f10 rubber seals are still looking great but i treat them every now and then. Shouldnt need to yet on a g31 though i'd have thought.
