Needed 4 new tyres for my recently bought 2018 F31 330d Touring

Took advantage of a 15% off deal on Black Circles last night and got:

2 x Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S 225/40 R19 Y (93), Reinforced, Asymmetrical
2 x Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S 255/35 R19 Y (96), Reinforced, Asymmetrical

This is replacing what I think is the original Bridgestone RFT's that were in the same sizes
I have been getting a lot of traction issues in the wet/cold with those - even with a fair amount of tread

I thought I was getting a straight swap as I hadn't noticed these were not run flat...
Black Circles then messaged me asking to change if I needed RFT ASAP

I had read a while ago changing from RFT to non RFT was a good thing to do, and I'm reading good things about the MPS4S

So thought I'd check on here if these tyres will be ok and I will have no fitting/driving issues - they are in the same sizes as current

Obviously I will need to get some slime in the boot incase of emergency/pump etc.

Thanks

You'll be fine and IMO better off

My pals 335D Touring is now on non RFTs and it's made such a difference to the ride & handling (albeit he's on Vredestein Ultrac Vorti's and Avon WV7 winters over winter)

He has the genuine BMW tyre repair kit in his boot; same as the one I have in my 730D:

There are cheaper ones if you look more, that's just the first I came across

They sound perfect, and exactly what I'll be fitting when the time comes to replace the Goodyear RFTs mine came on (identical sizes but on a lowly 320d)!

That is unless the new PS5 comes out with equally-great reviews, but significantly cheaper wink

Perfect - thanks.

I'm looking forward to getting them swapped now. Hopefully it will stop the wheelspinning each time i put my foot more than halfway down... didn't rate those bridgestones at all

You’ll be a lot better off. I had a 2014 335d for 2 years and switched from Bridgestone run flats to Non-Rf Michelin and both the ride and handling improved markedly. As the OP says get a slime kit for the boot.

Echo all the above. Made the RFT to non-RFT tyre switch on the 630i - much better ride, reduced road noise and better grip.

Hopefully you'll notice a hug improvement all round - Bridgestone Potenza run-flats are just cr*p!

Just had exactly the same fitted to my summer wheels. I did a lot of research & concluded these are the best available. A big bonus is that my set are BMW * rated. I couldn’t find non RFs * rated 18 months ago, I suspect availability now because they’re standard on the new 4 series cars. Looking forward to the improved ride.
For security I carry one of my winter 18” front wheel in summer, a wheel change kit and some puncture sealant stuff.
