BMW E46 audio only works in accessory mode?

Hoping someone on here can help me, The car is a 320ci convertible with a original nav system.

The radio and audio works perfectly in ignition 1 or 2 but as soon as you start the car it goes silent. The nav and radio can still be operated but it’s silent

I’m really lost on what it could be, so far I’ve checked wiring behind, pulled fuses and put new ones in, put a working ignition switch in from my other e46.

The only thing that did seem to work is I removed the battery for a hour and then started and the audio worked for about 30 seconds. Any ideas?

Is the battery good, fully charged etc? Check the voltage when off, pos 1/2 and running at idle and 1500rpm.

The battery might be aged out or you have a problem with the alternator etc.

Do you have a car phone/preparation for mobile phone/ULF?
What audio system, have you tried checking/swapping the radio module, amp (if there is one)?
