Hi All,

had the above pop up last month - car in the Garage for 2 days to be told new parts needed (seems a common fault on BMW's tbh)

Got car back as drivable - just no connected services. Noted however that my SatNav was now misreporting location (was fine before it went in) So back to dealers later that week. Friday 11th March - told car now not drivable - then after a weekend with no car, hire car provided by BMW (3 series from Enterprise)

Do you think this might have been the reason why my Satnav stopped working .... (handed back 4th March, wires disconnected, with roof lining flapping/hanging loose/rear speaker cover fell off a day later)

Wires under the SharkFin, Roof Lining hanging off at rear of car

Speaker cover fell off

Currently in a Volvo XC40 D3 from Enterprise car rental that BMW Uk are paying for - if you/I were to rent it's £850.00 a week, had it for a month so far !!

That looks like a terrible state for a main dealer to leave a car in

I suspect they disconnected the wires from the antenna, knowing that needed to go back there for the fix. Likewise the D post... Once only fixings broke on removal, hopefully to be replaced before finally returning the car.

Personally, I wouldn't be concerned about the above.

However, on another note, check the headlining for creases when you get it back.

Cheers chaps - messages on Bimmers forum re headliner and creasing (if they just bend it, rather than drop it down etc)

Appreciate chip shortage - but now > 6 weeks and very little in way of Comms to manage expectations. Worryingly somebody @ dealership said another customer (different model/different TPU) was coming up for 3 months wait for parts .....

Had this previously on a 2018 X5, it was the back up battery that had failed after a few hundred miles.

And ….still waiting on parts. Apparently due 16th May …. But given that’s the “week later” I’ve been told about 3 times now.

All comms have been initiated by me, not had one call from dealer/BMW so far.

And …. Yes - still waiting on parts. Now in its 20th week.

ESCALATION

BMW financial services as > 6 months ownership -.nothing the can/will do.

BMW `customer services complaints procedure …. Same “We can’t say when parts will be ready but we’ll speak with garage (whom are in the same boat of not knowing when parts are coming) so they can call you and say it’s showing next week, but we have no faith in that been correct”

Customer services say they’ll discuss recommence/making up for the debacle once car is fixed, but can’t say when that will be ….. FFS nor can they even indicate what maybe offered at that time.

Was told today to go back to dealership where I bought it from to initiate rejecting the car - as BMW uk will only deal with dealership escalation etc …. frown

Well - the parts arrived Monday. Fitted yesterday, car collected today. Told 1130, arrived @ 1330 (work getting in the way) Then a 40 minute wait … obviously never would have been ready for 1130 …

So 4 months 27 days to get the car back.

Let’s now see what customer services come back with ….

Called customer services - explained nature of call - on hold for 5 mins - "we can offer you £150 against future service etc" ......

Rejected that straight off - nearly 5 months without car, and a paltry offer of £150 (plus the 4 months of connected services that I've lost/had paid for.

Waiting on a call back from somebody ... will give it a week before calling again. Losing all faith in Customer Service/BMW.

When I collected car, was asked to give a favourable review should a customer survey come through as even though asking about BMW UK, Garage said it was about them. Garage were/are ins are boat as beholden to BMW UK/AIG for information relating to parts.

I did see an email by accident from somebody in Customer Services UK saying part was being shipped, expect 5 days (part had already turned up @ dealership/Garage) So shows how broken their lines of supply/communication are.
