After seeing a few comments on here mentioning the importance of cleaning the drainage holes and in my car finding pine leaves everywhere in the engine bay, fuel filler cap area and boot lining I will assume my car spent its previous life under a pine tree!

Could someone point out to me the location of the drain holes that I need to inspect and clear out the pine needles,

No signs of water anywhere but it's got me worried

You need to take out the housing for the microfilters under the windscreen, including the lower section, and then you can see the opening for the drain. It will be clogged and you'll need to flush it all out. Get as much as you can out by hand, then get a hose and feed it in the drain.

Water should come rushing out by the wheelarch.

This is a great video to watch, he has a load of others that are useful too.

You could also remove the little duck bill valve that sits in the lower drain holes (at least the one of the driver's side, you can't get at the one under the eBox) It clogs up with leaf mulch and I cannot fathom what it is there for. Without it the hole is bigger and more likely to keep draining. You can get at the eBox drain via the passenger wheel arch , but it rarely seems to get clogged up so I generally don't bother.

The convertible also has drain holes at the back in the boot that clog up.
