I’ve seen a 2015 M5 that I like the look of but wanted to get some more info on the warranty.
I’m sure I have read that the BMW warranty is not an actual BMW warranty, does this apply to an approved used car directly from BMW or is it only when you try to extend a warranty?
The car I’m looking at is advertised on the BMW approved used website and is being sold by a BMW dealer a few hundred miles away. The description just stated a 12 month warranty but not who the warranty is by, eg BMW or a third party?

Any idea what level of cover is provided as standard when you purchase an AUC then? I presume it will be the basic level which has a £5k claim limit?

My old neighbour had a used BMW with warranty few years ago. He had a new engine, turbo and exhaust system. Don't think he had a 5k limit on his.

The AUC warranty is different to the extended warranty that you can buy once the AUC one runs out. Off the top of my head, I think the AUC one covers trim (for example) - the extended one doesn’t.

Basically the AUC warranty is (in my experience) slightly better than the extended warranty, which is itself very good if you opt for the top tier of cover.

When you buy an AUC you get 12 months comprehensive warranty with no excess, the claim limit is the purchase price of the car. You also get 12 months roadside assistance.

I've had a few approved used BMWs and the warranty's pretty good, it'll cover most of what could go wrong on an M5.
