4 Series paintwork
Discussion
So, driving today through rural Lincolnshire I unfortunately encountered a prolonged stretch of road being surfaced with wet tar and chippings, whilst the road was still open.
As there was literally no alternative route I proceeded with caution, and so I thought fortunately they were doing the opposite direction to the way I was going.
As often the case, they were doing a stretch several miles long and the problem was caused by traffic going the other way too fast, throwing up not only stones but liquid tar too.
So on my return home, I cautiously looked at the car - which I’ve had for less than a month!

Literally the whole car is sprayed with tar droplets, you can’t put a pin down without find one on the paint, mirrors, anywhere.
Any suggestions on removing tar from such large areas, and is there anything to be gained by trying to make a complaint?
I’d literally spent a weekend 2 weeks ago waxing and sealing the car. Yes, it’ll come off but it’ll take an entire day to get it sorted I’d guess.
Any comments welcomed!

Citrus pre-wash
Snow foam
Wash by hand
Then wash each panel with Autoglym Intense Tar Remover
Re-snow foam
Hand wash again and that should be it sorted
This is what I did to my Mum's 220i; wasn't as bad, but was bad enough after driving down country lanes that had been freshly recovered mid summer etc...
Took a few hours; but paintwork was like glass afterwards.
Finished with Poorboys White Diamond
