2019 M140i - alloy wheel corrosion - but not where normal
Discussion
Our March 2019 has bubbling corrosion behind the main face of one of the rear wheels, in like a grove just behind the facing (so nowhere near the edges or face of the alloy).
The car was in for a brake fluid service in March and i asked them to look at it RE: corrosion warranty.
When i went to pick the car up, the "warranty service manager" said he hadnt looked much at the wheel as he thought the wheels had been resprayed as they "were a shade of grey he hadnt seen before" so assumed we'd had them sprayed like that, so he hadnt bothered looking any further (or ringing to ask).
The wheels are Orbit grey, never sprayed and the car was bought new.
So i told him that and he said chances are BMW wouldnt cover it anyway but if i brought it in some day (1 hour round trip for me) he'd process it and see what they said (a one hour wait for him to process it), BUT he said BMW would likely view it as some sort of external influence (stone chip or something).
I've noticed today the other rear wheel is corroding in the same place.
Would it be worth me making the expedition to the not-very-interested dealer and getting them to put the info to BMW or is it just one of those things that happens alloy wheels?

Perhaps chat with the guy that has an issue with BMW paintwork under warranty… I’ll delete this post in 1 minute but would love to see ur latest graph!
Lol
Funny I saw your post earlier asking and then I lost it but I have "the data" and the graph. Will get it uploaded in the morning.
Mine has exactly the same corrosion on the 2 front wheels. It is a 2016 car (owned from new) garaged with not many miles.
I'm completely out of warranty so I see it as one of those things, but it is really weird where the corrosion has occurred considering there is no damage to other parts of the wheels.
