Hi all
My 2018 335d just came up with a low coolant warning when turning on this morning and says to get cause investigated.
Am going to take it in tomorrow to get checked out, but has anyone else had this/any ideas what the issue may be?
The car has done about 75k
Cheers
Hi that is interesting. I bought my 2018 335d last september from BMW.One morning in february turned engine on and ping the coolant light comes on.Gutted as in 7 years of my F30 30d from new had never had this issue. So I put some water in it not much maybe half a pint and went on my way.Everytime I turned the engine on my heart went wondering if I would get the ping never did.Checked the level every day and did not seem to change. Seems it was a sensor thing. On the service I asked them to check but nothing. My 2018 335d just came up with a low coolant warning when turning on this morning and says to get cause investigated.

Don’t know. I bought the car in march 2019 when the car was about 6 months old
You can check online if your car is outstanding for a recall.Almost all bmw diesels of recent years were affected and early signs of failure is coolant loss. If it goes badly wrong it can result in the car catching fire.

Has it had the EGR cooler recall?
Was about to suggest the same, mine was called in for inspection before the recall and was deemed fine, then the recall was made and shortly after I also got the coolant warning which turned out to be the EGR so was changed by BMW. Considering the car was on about 70k miles and 18 months out of warranty I thought I was good of them to change FOC with no fuss.
Quick pressure test of the coolant system should easily show up any weaknesses. If it's loosing coolant because of a head gasket issue (i imagine this would be very, very, very bad luck!) then there is a test to see if the water is contaminated with exhaust gases.
Either way, I expect if there is an issue, it's probably somehting simple (albeit maybe a bit involved to sort out given how things are packed in!)

The garage just did a pressure test and no issues!Either way, I expect if there is an issue, it's probably somehting simple (albeit maybe a bit involved to sort out given how things are packed in!)
