Thinking of buying a 2019 convertible M4 - any experience?
Discussion
Try to get one with a higher interior spec than the one we had. It felt a bit cheap. Plain black plastic on the console and round the vents.
Despite all of the extra bracing on the M cars there was a surprising amount of scuttle shake with the roof down on some roads. The middle of the dashboard was visibly shaking at times.
In the winter a close eye on road surface condition and dampness is needed because not once in second gear did it have traction above 4.5k rpm. You certainly need to have respect for it but that's what makes it much more interesting that competitors 4wd cars.
We averaged 21mpg but even our C300 would only do 26mpg in the same usage.

I bought a 2019 M4 Comp coupe a few months ago. There were certainly plenty about (Coupes at least), so worth taking the time to find one in the right spec as imagine the same applies to the convertible.
Advantage of 2019 is that many were specced with the Ultimate Pack which has pretty much all options, so largely was a case for me of just finding right paint and leather combo.
Overall, love the car, although it has some incredibly annoying rattles which I need to get sorted. It is very firm, far too firm tbh, particularly on the massive wheels. This can get pretty tiring after a while.
I had an M140i before, and from a standing start I can't really tell a huge difference in terms of speed. It can also be hard to put the power down, however, once it's got going it's unbelievably quick. Cornering ability is incredible.

At least your seats are leather Lee. Mine ressemble fake leather from a 1987 Yugo 45 that was specially commissioned to be jet washable.
I always like your honesty with your cars Nick. I'm always torn with the softer leather because it wears too easily for me. The side bolster was battered on mine and it had only done 13k miles when I got it. Also the side bolster was also battered on the E92 M3 too. So in many ways I actually prefer the dakota leather because of how hard wearing it is, the E90 330d had over 150k miles on it when we sold it and there were hardly any marks on the seats in comparison.
I only know one thing about the vert and that is the drain holes can block over time and cause water ingress , often damaging the audio system so frequent checks are required and obvs check the audio and everything else works well when buying
Apart from that I assume they are similar to the coupe
