Recently had the EGR cooler replaced on my 2015 640d as part of a recall programme. Just had another letter through saying it needs to be replaced with an EGR cooler "first made available in July 2022".

Is this the same recall or another recall on the same part?

I received the same today. The letter states that the new part is first made available in July 22, so I guess it is a new part.

I would imagine the first recall was a temporary action for safety reasons, the second recall increases the part’s durability.

I’ve got a recall letter too for an F25 X3 3.0 diesel . EGR valve was replaced in 2018 under warranty and was replaced in spring 2019 under recall. This will be a third one.

I've just booked my 640d in for this - already had the first recall done,

I have been getting a random drivetrain warning recently so am hoping this resolves it......

Yes I would say so. Mine is in as we speak 2018 335d. I actually contacted my dealer as had a drivetrain amber message popping up "possible to continue journey.Full performance is not available contact service center" Luckily under auc warranty. Service centre said there is a recall and it may be the reason.

Anyway re your question I had to look at a form that had a whole list of things including a remap and tell them I had done nothing or had made changes to the car.

Got the letter yesterday (F31 330d touring). They've made a typo on the heading of the letter - "VEHICLE SAFTY RECALL" So much for German company accuracy eh?
Just popped in here to check it wasn't a hoax or summat!

My 17 plate 435d went in for the EGR yesterday. It had a drivetrain warning light on too and was told that they were related. A 4hr job to replace.
Mine has had previous work on the EGR and was told that they are seeing a number of such cars.
My dealer has 8000 cars in the area they cover, so if yours needs doing, I suggest you get it booked in.
