Hello everyone, hoping someone has some sage advice to offer, the suspension on my 430d Msport is getting a little long in the tooth and I think an update is needed. The choice for something close to stock appears to be either BMW dampers (expensive) or Bilstein B4 or B6's. Has anyone run the B4 or B6's and are they better/worse. I don't really want a harsher ride as it is my daily.

BMW tend to use Sachs to make their shocks etc

See if you can find the Sachs equivalent without the BMW branding; you'll save a lot of £££!

Fine to run them with OEM springs or springs such as Eibach etc

I did find some Sachs shocks but had no idea if they were the same spec as the oem's. A bit more internet research needed

From memory, Sachs SuperTouring were the M Sport equivalent.

B4's are the Bilstein budget dampers and nothing special.

B4’s are Bilstein’s OE equivalent damper.

The B6/8 are their posher versions.

I’ve used the B4’s and found them to be pretty good given the relatively small outlay. The B4S is for cars with sport suspension.

I'll try and find the Sachs oem and see how they compare on price, there seem to be some deals on the Bilstiens. Anyone know if the B6's are lower than the B4's or just a better quality?

B6s do not change the ride height. They are higher quality than B4s. Fronts have internal bump stops so can cope with large bumps better than B4s.

Perfect thanks, so if I go the Bilstein route then b6's are the better choice.
