Can any of you help me locate a replacement boot gas strut for our late 2005 E90 320D SE Saloon? This particular model's gas struts seem to be hard to find, searched all the normal online part suppliers, and the replacements all differ in compatible part number. Are they so unusual, or are they all the same size for later E90s (I'd have assumed they were)?

Printed on the originals, in blue, is:
E90-HK
TYP 16-2 01612390E 320N 224/05

The only one I can find with the direct 01612390E part number on is this one on e-bay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/27026570402

I'm assuming the branded Stablius here: https://www.strutsdepot.com/product/e1516-1/ aren't correct given no matching part number?

Thanks in advance.

As above, who posted whilst I was looking.

This should do it: https://www.sgs-engineering.com/gsc2569-bmw-3-seri...

I used them when replacing those on my E91.

Thanks guys, the URL above at SGS says boot strut: https://www.sgs-engineering.com/gsc2569-bmw-3-seri...
but the title and description say it's for the bonnet rather than boot, can't find any matching boot ones, so I'll drop them a message and see what they say.

Apologies if the link was wrong, but hopefully they can help you out and supply what you need.

You want part no. 51247250308

Take a look on Autodoc maybe. I got mine (E91) on Amazon - Stabilus jobbies

Thanks all for your help, all ordered and sorted (Stabilus 034249), turns out it is the same type as all the other E90s, my originals were missing the standard part code (which is, for these models: 5124 4 365 788).

For the future: SGS will also re-gas struts. They did two for me at a cost of about £25.

You can probably buy a pair of Stabilus replacements for that (or not much more). Fair enough if you have an expensive pair, but it's not worth re-gassing the E9x struts in my view.

True. Mine were hard to find so regas was the best option.
