Could someone confirm how much i should be paying on a MY2018 BMW 225XE please?

The car will be delivered to me on Friday, but looking at taxing it for a year and it's £510!
It's only a bit cheaper than my X5M My2016!

I would have thought it would be much cheaper.

List price new of over £40k means it's £510 / year for tax until it's 5 years old as I understand it.

I presume it gets the extra value VED applied for the first 6 years, was it over £40k list when new?

Put the reg in here and it will tell you if the extra charge applies:

https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/?_ga=2.10466...

If so, it'll not drop back to £165 (or the rate then) until 2024, I think. scratchchin

ETA: It applies to all car registered after 01/04/2017.

Is this the new car tax charge?

Yep, that's it. The list price limit has not moved since it was introduced in 2017. frown

That DVLA reg checker is a great resource for checking the actual recorded emissions for any particular vehicle.

Thank you, that would explain why i couldn't see it being applied to my 2016 car.

Ok, well that explains that, will just have to wait until 2024 for the expected rate.
Thanks again.
