Oil Catch Can?

My 318i E91 has recently started using significant oil and I get blue smoke after idling for a little while and then rev it.

I think the crankcase relief valve may be the culprit but it's been suggested that an oil catch can would be an option, but I've never heard of this?

Opinions please??

Stick with the OEM PCV system; it's a perishable/serviceable item, so more than likely needs replacing

Using a catch can is a cheap way around the issue; a sticking plaster so to speak

Engine will be worn out. Valve stem oil seals or rings.
