Looking to buy an F11, what should I be looking out for?

Well I’ve got myself a new job along with a small inheritance fund, I thought I’d change my car from the current E91 335i.
I was looking at spending close to £25k, getting me into a G31. But after some convincing by SWMBO (and rightly so) I’ve lowered my budget, so getting a G31 is now out of budget really. Looking to spend sub £20k now.
So a LCI (ideally) F11 is on the agenda. I don’t necessarily warrant a diesel as my commute is small, but I will be doing hour round trips weekly and also trips to the football most weekends, so that could help with EGR/DPF issues. Petrols seem like unicorns.
Want to stick to 6 cylinders. Want it in M Sport variant as I prefer the cars aesthetics. Would like a sunroof, but are there any issues with these sticking or leaking?
Pro Nav? Is that just a bigger screen in general over the business? (With Pro Nav, is there a bigger iDrive wheel in the console?

I had the saloon 550i. It broke down quite often, and leaked regularly too. Great car otherwise, good to drive and a lovely place to be. Check the big yellow grommet and keep your drain holes clean, or it turns into a mobile paddling pool.
I've just got a F13 640d, it's a quietly excellent thing, and has eaten up a handful of 4+ hour journeys with no bother as yet. Too early to say if it's actually reliable. I think it's got the Pro Nav, it just seems to be a bigger screen but the additional space is another map, unless there's a setting I'm missing.
Ride can be a bit crashy on the MSport suspension and 19s, I'd probably go for smaller wheels if you can.

I owned a 2014 LCI 535d for 5 years and 66k miles and it was fab. Mine had Harmon kardon, pro nav, auto dip mirrors etc. make sure you go for powerfold mirrors as it’s a big beast and I used this function regularly. Watch out for the following
Failing air springs. If the car is low at the rear they are porked, and if left they can over stressing the air compressor and burn it out. Potentially lots of £££. The OE ones are s
te, I fitted Arnott to mine.
Look for corrosion on the doors (aluminium) as bubbling around the weather strips. Happened on mine and BMW sorted as it was under warranty (AUC car)
Anything over 90k will need the dampers replaced as it’s a heavy car and mine were due at 96k.
Other than that buy on condition rather than mileage, and good luck with your search

I just can’t think of another marque I fancy, apart from a XF sportbrake. Just most (fasting) estates seem to be diesel from what I’ve seen.
Mileage doesn’t concern me, bought the E91 with about 157k on.
I always did like the look of the F31 in the light blue. But not sure it’s much bigger than the E91.

Timing chains are a weak spot too. Luckily mine was done under warranty.
Harmon Kardon whilst not the best sound system is a significant upgrade.
Standard seats unbelievably don’t have adjustable lumbar support.
They don’t have quite the technology and connectivity that a more modern car has, but it’s more than adequate for now. My 535d has done 110k now, of which I’ve done 75k and it still feels nice and tight.
I’d highly recommend one. I’d struggle to think of something to replace it with without spending a significant amount of money.

If you want bigger; don't look at Jags. They're small/tight inside...I just can’t think of another marque I fancy, apart from a XF sportbrake. Just most (fasting) estates seem to be diesel from what I’ve seen.

I’ve been focusing on lci models. Even thought about going saloon or a f31. Just as the pool of cars is bigger.

I’ve been focusing on lci models. Even thought about going saloon or a f31. Just as the pool of cars is bigger.
F10 5 series saloons are great; but the touring is better IMO
I have regrets re size and luxury of selling the F01, but had to due to its lack of use
Yeah true. I’m surprised that’s not on auto trader. Need to delve deeper into eBay motors trying to find the time with new job and looming house move. Just end up on AT here and there.

If I were you; settle into the new job, get the house move done and then see what happens with the car
With how the market is currently and folks facing bigger & bigger bills; selling & buying cars currently isn't going to be fun!

Yeah I’m going to wait, see what happens. The e91 is still plodding along. People are gonna want top money for their cars (will probably buy from a dealer/Indy dealer this time round). Just keep my eyes peeled.
Just watched a video on the F31 335d, devil juice, but sounds great.

Looks like the mrs wants to chop her xc60 in and she’s been looking at the 1 series convertible/coupe? Didn’t someone on PH do a readers car thread on the 1 convertible/coupe?
