I've got a 2016 320d M Sport that's dropped by about an inch on the offside rear. From my limited experience it looks like a snapped spring. I'll get it up in the air when I get a chance, but im pretty sure it's that. I'm thinking, whilst the suspensions in bits, I might as well change the shocks as well as the springs. It's done nearly 120k, so it probably will need it sooner or later anyway. Has anyone got any recommendations for the replacements? It lives it's life on the motorway, and is the second car, so i don't want to spend too much on it, ie I know coilovers would be nice but I'm not going to fork out 2k to get them all round. I'll just be doing the rears for now, and might get the fronts done in the future as it needs it

IMO stick with OEM spec

See what Autodoc and/or C3BMW offers - Something like Sachs would be perfect

My default would be OE spec, but if I can spend about 30% or so more and improve the ride, keeping it looking standard, I'd rather do that

That's why I suggest Sachs as they'll be OEM

Makes no sense...

At c120k miles the shocks will be well worth changing (and the top mounts) whilst it's all out...

Are you sure there's definitely something wrong? BMWs always sit noticeably lower on the offside rear I find.

Never had a shock degrade, often had a spring break.

Check the top mount it sits in, they are a serviceable part, certainly on the E91. They fail and the shock / spring pushes through.
I’ve not had one go on my F31 so never checked but likely to be similar.

Probably similar concept to the front strut/hub interface. This is a snap-stud, any excess load snaps the strut stud rather than smash the sheet metal top attachment point.
