E90 rear view mirror

My lads mirror has fallen off twice and did second repair yesterday. Question is, if I replaced it with a simple aftermarket one will unplugging of the wire to the "clowns nose" and just doing away with it mess up the alarm? ... or it it simply an indicator whose removal from the circuit will make no difference? Ta
