B58 - Any recent Chains replaced?
Discussion
Hi All;
Currently running a 2016 340i at 89,500 miles. Absolutely no signs chain is on the way out yet (No ticking, rough idle or error codes) but wondered if any other B58 owners have replaced their chain's recently and have a rough cost they would like to share?
From my understanding its an engine out job, fair enough labor for this is going to be high but want to start syphoning away money into a small savings account in pre-emption of needing to do it at some point.
Car is serviced yearly well under the 10k limit so trying to do as much proactive maintenance to keep the chain healthy, but know there things can start to degrade quickly once they do start to go!

Timing chain issues are not really a thing on the B58 unless high mileage. As others have said, I'd say you are at least about 60k miles away from even considering this as preventative maintenance.
Just drive and enjoy! And just make sure you are getting the oil changed every 10k miles or less.

Jesus, not another one worrying about something that may never happen. Just enjoy the car, and enjoy life. Stop stressing about bloody chains. It's all BMW owners ever bang on about because 95% of them are about as technically minded as a gibbon.
Appologies if my post gave the impression I was scared in some format, I was simply enquiring around if others have had them replaced and the rough cost they paid to do so as details are quite difficult to come by.Agreed 95% of us wouldn't be able to successfully remove a B58 engine and replace the chain as an activity, hence asking if people had done this vice something like a N47 or an N20 which makes the headlines a bit more for chain replacement.
Thanks for the reply's, I'll take onboard the water pump comment and something I'll look to do as a bit of proactive maintenance.
