Hello all

Quick question for the experts. I have an F30 335d that burns a ltr of oil every 3000 miles no oil leaks anywhere ,heat exchanger and rocker cover changed under BMW Insured Warranty has not helped ,BMW reckon next step take the turbo to pieces see if its coming from there. However if it isn't then I have to pay for that and so that is a no from me a lot of money.

Got talking to a guy who runs an ind garage ,he said there is a way to see if it is coming from the Turbo's and that is to take the Intercooler off and if oil found, then there is the answer.I have no idea ,any thoughts on that. He said he could do it for about £140 so could be worth a punt, although I am now used to filling it up every 8 weeks or so and does not wind me up anymore. Thanks.

Yup; it's going somewhere... The bumpers easy to remove and there's the intercooler IIRC

Deffo a DIY job if you've the tools; use brake cleaner or acetone to clean the intercooler out

Are you seeing any smoke at all when you start, or push it hard?

Get it sorted before it starts smoking, or like my mates Mercedes, they will be wanting to fit a new exhaust system complete with everything involved, main agents do not do cleaning.

No doubt that would be well within spec for BMW. It's probably something like 1 litre per 1000 miles before they'd admit something was wrong.

Can only be 1 of a couple of things, rings, turbo, stem seals. Assuming it's not in the coolant or leaking externally.
