Has anyone on here gutted/removed a DPF on an M57 and then successfully passed an MOT in recent years?

The (il)legality thereof is of course detailed in the MOT guidance... but I was just wondering what emissions were like without one (with or without a remap) - i.e. are they still likely to be within MOT limits or are they smokier than a lowered Passat TDi with blacked out windows?!

(I am aware that thermostats might need replacing if there are coolant temperature / DPF regen issues??)

Any info (hypothetical or not wink ) gratefully received!

I still have an M57, about 155k on it now. It's never had an issue passing an MOT in standard trim.

Mine neither. On 177k.

We have had the DPF cleaned twice in our 9yr ownership - I believe this is done with a chemical, possibly through the EGR valve but happy to be shot down on that. On both occasions we got the DPF warning on the iDrive and the clean makes it go away for several years. I don't really blame the car for this because we've never used it how a 330d should be, trundling around town mostly.
