Bought a used car recently and just registered the VIN/car with the “My BMW” app.

Strangely, the app is showing c.8k higher mileage than the odometer in the car ?

Is this likely to be a software glitch or potentially the sign of something more sinister ?

Any help or guidance would be appreciated. Am looking into getting Bimmerlink to query the mileage stored on the car’s modules, but will take a couple of days to get the hardware to do it. Wasn’t sure if BimmerCode can help ?

This may sound odd, but is one measuring the mileage in miles and the other in kilometres? The conversion factor would be approximately correct - as there are 1.6 kilometres to a mile.

Good point but both showing miles, and the difference isn’t 1.6x ?

I'd get a proper BMW dealer to read it all and you'll have an answer pretty quick

My app is and always has been spot on from day 1. Now 9+ years later, still spot on. Plus door and windows, fuel level, etc have always been spot on. Also all features work, locking, unlocking, etc.(although slower to react than the key fob)

Yes we have had a number of BMWs and the mileage was always consistent.

I’ve read that some OBD scanners can check the modules to see if it all ties up.

Worried and have contacted the supplying dealer to flag.

Carly definitely can. I would get it in to a main dealer and ask them to read all the modules.
