I still have the search filters for manual M240i's for when I was looking for one in 2021 and every now and then, I have a look.

Today I spotted my old car! I sold it April 2025 and it looks like the owner changed the seats to black as mine had the ivory dakota leather

Anyways, what's interesting is that there is no mention of the remap I had. When I advertised mine, I disclosed it and provided dyno printouts for it in the advert.

Could the vendor have removed the map or are they just hiding it?

I fxcking loved that car, took it to Germany, absolute rocketship, remapped at DMS, 460 ps 471 lbft showing on the dyno

Manual....it was a cheat code to motoring, the B58 is an engineering marvel, I put nearly 40k of hard miles on that thing and the only real money I spent on it was a new clutch, rightfully so!

It replaced a M4 Competiton, the things it lacked as the presence and engine response but the way it felt ripping the clutch and going through the gears was bliss

I miss that car, I would buy it back if I could, insurance costs (tripled in 3 years with no points or claims) and a hybrid company car forced the sale, I intended to keep it forever

Anyone buying a 9 year old M240, thinking that it won’t have been driven hard is optimistic at best.

There’s driven hard, and there’s ragged mercilessly within an inch of its life…

Suppose it's been PX'd and the trader may not be aware of it. Or as you say maybe it was reverted, some folk struggle with insurance on modded cars. Maybe the vendor thinks the re-map would reduce the audience.

Over time, if you lose the remap details there's nothing to indicate it has been remapped and so the vendor may be unaware. However he may find it easier to sell as a std one and so not mention the map.

Question is this…

Is it as good as an MG3?

No however, the MG3 replaced that exact car and I actually have no opinion. They are not comparable, it's impossible to compare however the MG3 doesn't have me longing for more, 8 speaker sound system, inferior to the Harmon Kardon but good enough to not notice. Power delivery is instant, heated seats and steering wheel, 50 mpg with heavy foot.

I miss my BMW for the obvious reasons however I don't see myself buying another car like it when the MG3 provides what it does, why spend all that extra money when you have a 195 bhp super mini with a fantastic sound system, all the creature comforts you need and 50 mpg

Perhaps because the BMW is actually fun to drive?

I’d run a mile from that without even reading this thread.

Good the OP enjoyed it though and they are cracking cars.
