Hi all
First post on this BMW forum as I have just picked up a very nice low mileage 640i convertible
It’s got a 12 month BMW warranty which is great but I have been researching when it would need a coolant change.
It’s not mentioned in the Owners handbook.
On line some say 30k or 5 years and I have seen it mentioned that BMW say it’s a life time fill

Not keen on lifetime fluids so is there a consensus on coolant policy

Thanks

Personally I'd just change it and get it done for peace of mind...

I wouldn't bother unless you are having issues or losing coolant. If you're keeping the car for good then find specialist to do it or BMW to keep that warranty none-void! I would do it around 60k with the transmission box, but thats just me.

Thanks guys for the replies. Two different answers which is exactly what I found on line.
I have only had the car a few weeks and all seems OK .
The coolant issue I have a query on is a bit proactive. I have read during my searches that regular changing the coolant can have a beneficial effect on water pump longevity.. Could be rubbish of course but just getting a handle on the pros and cons.

I will probably get it renewed in a year when the BMW warranty expires.

The car is 8 years old but only done 21k with regular MD services and oil changes .
If the car is as reliable as my part exchanged Jag XK then it will definitely be a keeper.
