Wonder if someone can tell me if it’s possible and if so but how do I stop the idrive on my 2016 BMW M135i from telling me the car needs a service.

The car is now 10 years old, so be owned it from new and in reality due to my job I am going to own it for another 3-5 years so its probably going to have 150k miles plus on it by the time I consider selling it.

In the past it has always been serviced by BMW or a BMW specialist. It’s now due an oil service, the cheapest all my local specialist or BMW could come up with is £325 (for a bloody oil service, mental, my local little mechanic says he can do it for £50 if I supply oil and filters.

So to that end I have decided I’m not interested in maintaining the service history on the idrive any more. But how on gods green earth do I stop it from reminding me of very time I start the car.

Is there a way to go in without a computer and the correct software to tell it I’ve had the service done and to shut up dinging at me every time I start the thing.

Sorry for the long winded way of wording my question.

I'm pretty sure you can reset it manually.

Ignition on, press and hold the trip button for the service menu, use the toggle to find "Engine Oil," and hold the button to confirm reset.

Well, thank you very much. It appears that’s how you do it. Learning has taken place. I figured there must be a way. Just saved me £200 quid. Will get my local guy to do it.
