Apologies if there are already posts on this...

I have just bought an E93 335i with quite a bit of wastegate rattle.
I believe it's just clocked over 135,000 miles and is a 2007 model with the N54.

What are my options with getting this fixed? I have seen online there are ways to adjust the actuator arm which I haven't yet tried, but I will at some point. If that doesn't seem to help, are there any specialists around that fix this? I was recommended PMP cars in Nuneaton, but I don't believe they exist any more.

I am based in Oxfordshire / Berkshire, but open to travelling within reason.

I'm also interested in walnut blasting, so if anyone knows of any garages in my area that can do this then recommendations would be appreciated smile

New turbos are generally the way to get it done, there's also adjusting the linkage as you've suggested.
When I had a N54, there was a mod (which involved welding the wategates to the linkage arm - I think) which resolved the issue too.

I have used/use TWG in Surrey for walnut blasting and they'd also be able to advise on what to do with the rattle.

Another option could be to buy some used turbos and have them refurbished.

- Actuator trick = temp fix, comes back.
- Real fix = new turbos/hybrids.
- MR Performance (Wokingham) or A1BN (Watford) for work.
- Evolve (Luton) for walnut blasting.
- Don't weld the arms.
- At 135k, just save for turbos. Rattle won't kill the car, just sounds crap.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Do you know what the worst outcome could be if I left it for now? Is it just loss of boost?

And I'm guessing it's an engine-out job for turbo replacements?
