F20 - reversing camera issue

I have a bit of an odd issue with the reversing camera on my M135i. It is factory fitted from new and I am getting a view as shown (with the blacked out curvature at the bottom of the picture where I assume the car is picking up the bumper) and the sign on the dash. It has been on the diagnostics at both an independent and BMW. This says camera needs calibrating but when calibration is attempted the car doesn't respond and won't allow it. Before I think about next steps which may involve bumper off to check wiring, anyone got any ideas? The dash message coincided with a weak battery that has since been replaced and corrrectly coded to the car.
