2016 F10 520d for motorway barging
Discussion
Looking at a few of these and they still look really nice don't they.
I have found several in budget that are very late cars (2016) with the B47 engine, and in great nick with low miles, perfect history, Pro Nav etc...
Are they good buys, and will one (given they're 10 years old now) serve me well bombing up and down the country for a few years?
I love the £35 tax and 60mpg!

Only if you can put up with the astronomical cost of diesel.
But I suppose it can make sense if you can claim mileage, and the vast improvement in economy on the motorway if you are comfortable to plod along.
If it's motorway cruising you need, try and find one with radar cruise control (ACC). On F series BMW's they are like hens teeth, but they are out there.

Nothing up with them; nor the previous N47 engined versions, as long as they've been serviced and maintained properly (and not by BMWs stupid intervals)I have found several in budget that are very late cars (2016) with the B47 engine, and in great nick with low miles, perfect history, Pro Nav etc...

For a motorway barge; it'll be spot on - get heated seats, HK stereo (pro-nav as already mentioned) etc
Get the ZF8 box serviced ASAP for peace of mind; fit 17s or 18s with decent tyres (Goodyear Assym 6s, Conti Premium Contact etc) and it'll be perfect for your needs
Just do your due diligence, ensure the car(s) you're looking at has been looked after well and get racking up the miles

Many thanks!
Do you reckon i'm mad paying top whack for one and would be better off a 3rd less (circa £8k) with a good cared for 100k miler?
They're around £11-12k the nice cars i'm seeing, for low mileage and desired options/good history...
My opinion has always been to ignore the miles and go for the car thats been best looked after - more so one that's got invoices and paperwork to show the servicing/maintenance etcDo you reckon i'm mad paying top whack for one and would be better off a 3rd less (circa £8k) with a good cared for 100k miler?

Bought my 2011 F11 520d with about 90k miles and ran it for another 7 years taking it to 200k miles. It was serviced to BMW schedule at an independent so usually about 20k miles /1 year. No real issues other than the DMF failure and the crank pulley falling off. Used to give about 48mpg with no short runs. Ideal car for motorway work. Surprised re prices. Would guess F10 2016 should be £8-10K and low mileage is not a benefit. I moved to a G31 2019, much nicer spec and very practical. Mines at 525D with tow bar, pan roof and only 120K miles, told I'd not get £12k if selling so shocked you'd need to pay £12k for a saloon three years older with less power and probably lower spec.
