Hi

I owned a E36 328, loved it sold that brought a porsche 911(964). However I am now looking for my next purchase. Thought about a 993 porsche but I cant strecth to the price of a RHD. I have max of £20-21 k.

Does anyone think that a M3 E36 on a S plate mint low millage a better buy that a newer 330 ci? Has anyone owned a 330 ci and a M3 and can seperate between them. I had a M3 Evo off a friend who lost his licence. I had it for 3 months and thought it was amazing for the £15,000 he paid, it was quicker and better handling than my porsche. Thats why its gone!!
I've never driven a E46 BM are they much better than the E36?

Thanks

The E46 3series is a much improved car over the e36 generally speaking. It is better built has a much improved interior and offers far greater crash protection. The 330i is a tremendous car and will demolish an audi tt 225.You must take in to consideration though that the m3 will reqire much more specalised maintenence over the 330,but the m3 will be a much more exclusive car to own.Definately go for the e36 m3.The only significant fault is on the evo version which uses double vanos,if there is a rattle from the front of the engine the vanos is faulty, but this should have been replaced by BMW.Otherwise the e36 m3 is a mindblowing car in any guise,go for it.

I own a 1998 M3 Evo with 48k on the clock and wouldnt consider changing it for anything less than a Porsche 996. For the money you would struggle to find anything better all round. Later cars are going for around £15k in good condition with low mileage. 321bhp for £15k!

330ci is a great car but it is still one of the common garden models. It dosent have half a Mclaren F1 lump under the bonnet.
