E36 M3 Evo insurance
Discussion
Pondering my next purchase, and have always fancied an E36 M3 Evo.
Purchase prices are pretty good now, but my cheapest insurance quote so far is £2500!!
I am 25 with 2 yrs NCB after having a car nicked, and have a clean license.
This compares with £1500 for a Boxster 2.7 and £1380 for an M Coupe.
Any suggestions?

You don't use it a great deal then? Wouldn't it be cheaper just to hire a car when you needed one?
I s'pose!
Most hire companies wont touch under 30's on such vehicles.
I tried to hire a Ferrari 360 for my wedding day and was denied for this reason.
Besides I dont think hire companies would take too kindly to aftermarket mods.
I use it for sunny weekends, trips to Le Mans and Nurburgring, etc.
I have a company car for commuting.
I suppose its like many other people on this website who use their cars just for weekend pleasure.
My car is a luxury which I dont feel obliged to justify.
Quite fancy one of these myself, when I need a sensible car
, I'm always having a go at my old man for only using his B3 to go to the shops in once a week
And if you want insurance problems try insureing a B3, every insurance telesales numpty you call say's 'don't you mean an M3, B3 is not on my computer?'

Yeah go for the M Coupe..for some reason a lot less to insure than M3 (my quotes were over a grand less as well). Guess insurers calculate the drivers of M3's are a higher risk, and car more likely to be pinched.
I always fancied an M3 but M Coupe's are now more affordable, rarer and more unusual. And unlike an M3 no-one will think you're in a 316i with big wheels!
elephant were good for me, and many of my friends.

You can get em for under £20k, which will buy you a 1997 P Boxster with 50k and 130bhp less - know which I'd prefer personally ! Ref any TVR - from all that I've seen on various forums not much use if u need a car as transport !
25k for a 3 year old sooped up hatchback on an old 3 series chassis ? no ta very much.
Nice engine/performance granted. But were talking Boxster/Tuscan money.
For 15k - yep. i'll think about.

Maybe so, but if I pulled up to a restaurant in an M Coupe they would wonder what kind of bread I was delivering!

Sorry! I'll get me coat
