I have a 750iL that has been standing for about 2 weeks and I would like to charge the battery. Turning it over is VERY slow (due to engine size I presume) and I would like to give it a good boost before using it.

Would it be safe to do so on the car or shall I take it off?
IF I do take it off what will happen. Loose radio memory, doors lock, MPG meter screw up? Or is it just too dangerous?

I just dont want to fcensoredk up the in car electronics.

BTW: I wont be starting it, just charging it.

All my cars including the 7 have fly leads atached to plug in a battery conditioner/charger unit - I just rotate the charger unit around the cars to keep all the batteries in tip top order

the battery conditioner/charger charges very slowly so it doesn't overheat the batteries and can be lft on for weeks if required

Thanks. Is that direct to the battery or via the under bonnet charge point?

This is what I have

www.accumate.co.uk/

I bought 1 charger unit

www.accumate.co.uk/it010001.html

plus 5 additional lead sets so I could permentantly fit them to all my cars.

www.accumate.co.uk/it020006.html

It's a nice bit of kit reasonably priced and I've had it 4 years from memory and it's never missed a beat.

I have used it to recover batteries that have been badly sulphated for occasional use (wouldn't trust it on a daily driver).

Charging complete! Thanks for that. I just needed re-assurance I mean if it had been an old Ford I would have just slapped any old charger onto it. But being a bit more delicate I just needed the go ahead. That charger looks good and I do like the charge clip and is something to think about.
Fortunately the charger I have is an intelligent one.
