ipod connector E46

Anyone connected their ipod to the BMW head unit and retained the use of the 6 cd changer? Everything i look at says you can have the ipod, but you lose the ability to use the changer. Anyone got any advice please!

yes, i managed to hook up a denison ice link to mine,

it meant wiring all the way to the boot and back, but it's worth it!

You're right - you can't use the BMW supplied ipod connector at the same time as the 6 disc changer. When I bought my car I had the connector fitted by the dealer didn't disconnect the mult-cd player. It wouldn't work - neither player or ipod played. Fixed now

It will work, but might not work with the steering wheel controls.

if you dont need onscreen controls - you can use an aux in adaptor

If you don't mind a bit of a loss in sound quality, try an iTrip. This little unit plugs into the bottom of your iPod and emits a signal capable of being received by an FM radio. Costs peanuts, does work, can be moved between cars and means no wiring required. No it doesn't sound quite as good, but we are talking about an environment that's not exactly friendly for sound.

You can get a Dension Gateway 100 (replacement or the IceLink) and dd a cd changer retention kit, that way you get to keep both.
