Bluetooth/Stereo Issues

I have a new coupe and I am having problems with bluetooth and the fact that the radio (or in fact CD/Aux) just cuts in and out randomly - has anyone else seen this/got any ideas?

The bluetooth is strange, my phone worked perfectly in the old E46, but now will connect but I can't make or receive calls and after a day or so the two refuse to connect?

I have checked for compatibility (http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/bluetooth) and my phone (V3i) has the right software version - any ideas?

The dealer says they will need the car for a couple of days to investigate!

Today things have got even worse - I have not tried to connect the phone, just tried to listen to the radio.

No sound at all now and it keeps coming up with the message, "SOS Call System Failure" which sounds bad but doesn't really help?

If this was a PC then I would be reaching for the reset button - is this possible with the idrive?

You have a MOST failure-something on the media curcuit is cutting out and kocking the system down-maybe ULF,CDC,CCC,logic 7(depending on the spec)-all computers linked together on most.
Or you have a low battery,but you should have a battery symbol light up in orange.
If you have a sunroof it maybe water ingress to the sos switch.
Its off to the stealer for a quick test for this one

You need to get it to the dealer, I'm afraid.

My g/fs X3 wasn't compatible with her phone according to the BMW website, yet it works perfectly. Mine is supposed to, and doesn't.

Work that one out!

battery is fine and do not have a sunroof, I did speak to the dealer this morning and he told me how to reboot things - will try that this evening and if there is no success then I will get it booked in,

A brief update on this - believe it or not this is still not fixed.

The problem was not diagnosed on the first visit so it is back in now.

Still no diagnosis, including having the BMW central guys have a look.

So BMW central are saying it is a phone compatibility problem and will not authorise a replacement of the unit (what is the cost?).

The dealer have tested switching the unit for one that works and guess what everything is fine.

My phone paired instantly with the loan car I have, and even worked in my old E46.

They have tried over 5 different phones with the car and none work.

I used to be a big big fan of BMW, reliable cars and if something did go wrong then they would put up their hand, admit it and fix it.

This reeks of cheapness (or lazyness - not sure which at the moment), and is incredibly frustrating.

I feel like a lot of the gloss and prestige is vanishing at the moment.
