I just bought one last week - great car - I changed from Audi A6 SE - thought that had everything - but the 530d has even more - make suere you get all the extras though - the m tec looks and drives perfect - loads of extras - the ride is really comfy & turns heads....all my fellow district nurse colleagues are dead jealous...watch the speed bumps though...they can cause damage with the sports suspension which is a little stiff around town - but otherwise NO complaints here....steering wheel functions easy to use - I paid 12k for 2002 one with 88k on the clock - & FSH. hope this helps

Mine was bought new by me in June 2002 and has now covered 115k. It's a manual 530dT Sport. The only major items changed have been the turbo at around 85K and the secondary electric cooling fan that just stopped working. The turbo failure was at slow speed and did no other damage although many seem to fail in a spectacular way with lots of smoke and big bills. I paid around £600 for a new, not rebuilt unit. Other non-service items have been a couple of front suspension bushes, one driveshaft coupling and a bonnet alarm switch. Tyres last around 25K.
The car was remapped by Emaps at 70K which improved the performance and driveability significantly. Fuel consumption has never gone below 33mpg on a tankful and that's when there has been no out of town work. I regularly exceed 40mpg on a tankful when out of town work is involved. Lifetime fuel consumption if 38.5 mpg. This week the trip showed 52.3 mpg on a 200+ round trip but I was in no hurry and stayed around 60-65 mph which is not typical driving for me.
The car is overdue for change but I can't find anything that I like as much to replace it!
