Based on my experience of post-facelift 118d and 120d models, this will be a great car. Shame they announced it a week *after* I took delivery of my 120d though...

Based on how much I love my facelifit 120D, I suspect a 123D will be the next purchase. Unless they do bring out a 135i as suggested. In which case I suspect that would be a real belter.

My 120D has now done 2,000 miles and the only thing I would like is the fuel consumption to be a bit closer to the manufacturers figure not 18 mpg adrift. Th 330D Coupe is only about 3 MPG behind the 120D.

What are said figures?

330D is now doing 40.1 mpg. 120D is doing 40.9 mpg.

I wish our 335d consumption was closer to our 120d.

The auto six averages 32MPG and the manual 120 is currently averaging 48MPG.

2000 miles isn't a lot.. Wait until its past 6000 miles or more, and it should have picked up noticeably by then (If the 1st gen 120D's are anything to go by).
Besides, its very rare that anyone gets anywhere near the manufacturers quoted figures. Usually it is rather less! And of course it does depend very heavily on what kind of driving you do. I think diesels show bigger differences here than petrol cars do.

Not one to sound big headed, but I can confirm that the 1 series coupe/convertible will have the '3.5i' engine in it i.e. 135i as I've seen one in the flesh. The brakes on this thing were absolutly huge.

I think it will be next year.

I don't know if the engine is going into the hatch. If it is I would look at the cost difference between a 330i and a 335i M Sports.. Lets say it is £2k. Then look at the list price of the 130i M Sport and apply the £2k premium.

i'm sure a dealer will add you to a list of interested parties.

E87 135ti M Sport should be circa 105kg lighter (remember most of the difference will be at the rear= oversteer ) than a E90 335i M Sport. Add a Quaife LSD (and have a few yourself), switch off DTC et al....sheer bliss.

Whilst at the Sachenring last week I spoke to a BMW engineer who was working on the 123d project and had driven one often.

He thought the car was "really quick" and would see off MANY a quick car across country as the torque and pickup was "wunderbar"
