Whilst I'm waiting for BMW ASSIST to turn up................

My 330D is turning over but not firing.
I'm presuming this will be something to do with the fuel system, either injectors, pumps, glow plugs etc.....
If so will they be covered under the extended warranty or will the ASSIST bods or Main dealer (if the car has to go in) try to make me pay for them or claim its a wear and tear item? Car has done 62,000 miles.
Also, I'm hoping it won't come to it, but does anyone know how they manage courtesy cars? Are they offered as standard? And will it be from the dealership or some crappy Hertz Nissan Micra? (At least if its Japanese it won't break down).
My faith in German build quality has been shattered!

Wife's 320 Cd did this. After BMW Assist swapped out the fuel pump on my driveway, they discovered there was nowt wrong wi'it and it was a case of "computer says no". The fuel pressure sensor was duff and saying zero fuel pressure and then shutting the pump down. I did wonder, as there's not a lot that can go wrong with a diesel -- as long as you can pump fuel into the cylinders it should run.
When the Z4C was recovered by assist they firstly tried to find a car at the dealer. They said they didn't have anything but it then subsequently became apparant that they did but didn't think I would take too kindly to being offered a 116i (actually I wouldn't have minded as it had 4 wheels and an engine).
Anyway they went to Enterprise and got us a Passat estate.

So presumably not the first problem you've encountered? Tell us all...Not sure on the courtesy car front, IIRC they use them as steeds for the dealer staff, so they need a bit of warning before they can sort one out for you. But, herein lies the greatness of having a BMW; pretty much anything they give you will be interesting. Not like Merc, who gave my dad a Vaneo when he took his ML in; not pleased!

Tried starting it repeatedly, up until about half an hour before the chappie turned up.
Chappie turned up......THE F##KER STARTED FIRST TIME!
However he had a poke around and replaced the fuel pump solenoid as it was decidedly suspect with some scoring inside the plastic cover, he also said the fuel pump would probably give out sooner rather than later and was probably the cause of the solenoid throwing a wobbler.
My mate's Passat had the same thing last month but my inital rant about German metal may have (hopefully) been a little premature.
The BMW Assist experience was first class
May park on hills for the next few days (Like I used to in my old Campervan) just in case I need to bump start it!

ON the (numerous) occasions that I have had to call them out in the last year (touch wood not for a while) BMW assist have been nothing less than brilliant, always fast, polite, with a real "can do" attitude and thats the call centre, engineers and after care.I'm not sure how much extra (if any) it is over a standard AA/ rac etc package but in my words its worth every penny, for once I feel that I can reccomend a service

Two days later the fuel pump gave out and was fixed in my drive within four hours by BMW Assist.
Then today half the clips that secure the panel covering the fuel pump under the car failed and the panel half fell off and was dragging along the road.
I had to undo the remaining bolts and remove it, then went to the local dealer (since I was just down the road) who put the car up on jacks and replaced half the cover assembly, but said I'd have to go back in a couple of days to get the other bit put on as they don't keep the clips in stock.
They did however complement me on the music on my ipod, apparently the service guy is an Iron Maiden fan.
The Ultimate Driving Machine?
