iPod Integration

Has anyone out there used a Dension ice>Link Plus in their E46 or similar? Am thinking of buying one, but heard lots of different stories about what it will and won't do (having to name your playlists BMW1, BMW2, BMW3 etc).

Can you access all your playlists? Do the steering wheel controls work? Does the BMW Business RDS head unit display playlist names / track titles?

Any comments, problems, thoughts gratefully recieved.

I'd be fitting it to an '05 320Cd with OEM Business RDS head unit.

I've got the IceLink Plus in an E46 Compact, have had no problems with it. The functionality has been improved over the years with various firmware upgrades (I'm using vesion 2b2). I'm using it with the older Business Cassette headunit, but I believe functionality is the same with CD headunit.

Playlists: First 5 play lists (alphabetically) can be accessed using buttons 1-5 or All playlists can be listed and accessed using button 6 on the headunit (which behaves as a multi function menu button with the options displayed and selected on head unit)

Steering wheel: All controls work as before Vol Up/Down and Previous/next Track, and will also work with the button 6 menu to scroll and select.

"Rnd" button switchs on/off shuffle play

Headunit shows Artist and Track name in an alternating scrolling window.

The iPod UI is disabled normally, but there is a menu option to enable control via the clickwheel (but as mine is in the glovebox I never use it).

The only niggle is that the Artist/Track name text overwrites the normal display, so adjusting Bass/Treble or displaying the clock is quickly overwritten with the Artist/Track name text.
