I seem to have a problem with my car and its FBMWSH, can someone explain the service intervals.

Is it Oil service, Insp 1, Oil service, Inspection 2 in that order or is it solely governed by the service indicator on the car? M have FBMWSG but for some reason I am being told that my car (m3 49,000 miles) has missed its Insp 2 at 40,000, it has an oil service at 40,000miles instead. Another dealer has told me though that because the service indicator on the car is showing that the next service is an Inspection then the last service was correct. Either the dealer has done the wrong servicing at the wrong time or the service indicator is out of phase

Can anyone shed any light on this?

1200mile service @ 1200miles
Oil Service around 11-14000miles
Inspection I around 22-28000miles
Oil Service around 33-42000miles
Inspection II around 44-56000miles

Thats What I'd expect to see

With BF every 2 yrs & coolant every 4yrs

If more than 2yrs pass since last service then the next due should be carried out

So in answer to your question yours sounds fine to me!

That's what I thought, so am I safe to assume that if the car showed oil service at 40,000 then that's what was needed and not an Inspection2?

Cant see an inspection II being due at 40k unless its had the boocks thrash out of it

Can't you check the service book and receipts ?
If you don't have them then BMW shoul have the information on their system, available at any dealer.

I have all the receipt and the book, its my car! I am asking because today I was told that due to my service history being incomplete a deal that has been agreed for p/ex couldn't go ahead as a crucial Insp2 was missed at 40,000 and an oil service done instead. I have never missed a service and they've always been done in good time, when it was at 40,000 I simply took it to the dealer when the service indicator showed, so either the wrong service was done or they are talking boocks.

The service indicator on my car at 49,000 miles now shows that an Inspection is due in 4,700 miles, which would suggest the last service was indeed correct and that the Inspection 2 was not due, but I want to know for certain before I take this further

They sound in clueless

was the guy fresh out of nappies and wet behind the ears?

The only issue should be that the 1200 miles service was done promtly.... stikes me someones dropped a bollock as they have now just realised they'll end up having to do an inspection II themselves when they resell it and are now backtracking

Exactly my thoughts, the deal they gave me was too good and when I took the finance elsewhere I think it was a ploy to get out of the deal, i just spent £1,500 getting car spot on as well, my car has had

1200mile service @ 1000 miles
Oil Service @ 12,400 miles
Inspection I @ 24400 miles
Oil Service @ 32,000 miles
Oil service @ 40,000 miles
Inspection II due at, 53,750 miles (currently on 49,000)

Hmmmm there is a slight complication.... looks to me it had the oil service done prematurely which should have been an inspection II at around 44000miles which has thrown everything behind

yes possibly that's why I'm asking, but, the service indicator on the car shows inspection in 4,750 miles not oil service, and i'm pretty sure at 40,000 miles it also showed oil service on the indicator

Nope that shouldnt happen, it shouuld always go oil service inspection I/II then oil service... inspection I/II etc *if* it came up oil service at 40k then thats an indication its possibly been clocked (assuming you haven't owned it from new)

If you bought it second hand then I'd get the mileage taken of 'the key' by a BMW dealer and see what that comes back as this also logs the mileage as well as the odometer, as well as the history print of the main BMW system (see if any descrepences in warranty repair milages etc)

I bought this off a BMW dealer with 3,000 miles on the clock, BMW being the 1st owner, it was an ex management car

I'm at a loss then, has the car ever had and dash display problems?

Based on what your saying theres no reason at all for the car to deviate from the schedule i originally detailed

Not that I am aware of, the car is now potentially only worth trade to a dealer so i shall be getting to the bottom of this and someone will be expected to cover my losses, you don't expect this sort of crap when you spend 39k on car, absolute boocks!

Turns out the 32,00 mile service was unscheduled, I got a freebie for various reasons but they decided to do it when it was in for warranty work and stamped the book when they shouldn't have. I now have a print out confirming that the car had 8,000 odd miles due to its next service when they carried out the unscheduled service, so all is square and above board
