Guys,

Just put my 2.5 Z4 up for sale as i need more power. Quite keen on the Alpina, but really want a low mileage (20k-30k) blue one (http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=189412&hw=+%2Bz4+%2Balpina), not thet greys and blacks that seem more common - any ideas where i can get one from, althogh im guessing its just a case of waiting?

One other option however is a Z4 m, but its a great deal more money - any advised greatfully recieved!

This months BMW OC magazine ran a piece on the Alpina....looks great value and they are hard to find. Look out for ads at Munich Legends and also Sytners along with the BMW and Alpina OC web sites. Good luck.

Sytners at Leicester currently have my old car for sale.
It's Maldives Blue with Black leather and the Lux Pack, and done 27.7K miles.
Pictures linked to my profile.
They have it up for £25850 I think.

It might be what you are looking for.

Go for it. Recently bought one myself in common grey tongue out and it is fantastic. Not sure if Gimlet's is up for sale still as it is off the Sytners site. You may have to wait for what you want though as there aren't that many blue ones around (on www.thealpinaregister.com there are only 6 blue cars from 42 total).

Good luck!

I know Sytners have been having issues with their site and cars dropping off it, so it could still be available.
Alpina only built 5 cars out of the 369 in Maldives Blue, and just 167 were RHD, my old one being No: 035.

It's an unfortunate side-effect of most of the cars being ordered in by Sytners. Unless you find one that someone ordered themselves, most of the Sytner ordered cars come in the usual grey, silver, black etc. as they are the easiest colours to shift.

I do hope you find one though as they really are worth it, although given the way the residuals are going on Z4M's at the moment give it a few months and you'll be able to get one of those for your budget!

So whats the crack with Z4 M's, why are they dropping in price so fast?

Put it this way, if you go onto the BMW site and spec up a Z4M to the same spec as a Roadster with the lux pack it comes out at £48K!! At that money you've got to really, really want one. I think the huge drop is just a reflection on what the cars are really worth - prices will only reflect what people are willing to pay. With the best will in the world (and I speak as an owner) there is no way a Z4 is worth over £45k. Good for people on the hunt for a decent car then, not so good if you paid list for one.
