E46 Black Leather Restore

Now I've got the 320 I've decided I don't want to live with the minor scuffs and bit of wear on the passenger seat (its odd there's very little wear on the drivers seat though) so last night I ordered some 'scuff master' from Liquid Leather http://www.liquidleather.com/scuffs.htm 

I must say their website ordering is rubbish. It seems like you are basicially filling in a paper order form, just it happens to be online. You even have to add up the total value of your order yourself and type it into a box!

Hopefully their product is better at its job than their website and if anyone is interested I'll let you know how I get on with it.

Their products are excellent, just follow the instructions, and remember to keep the leather well conditioned throughout the year.

Yeah I use this product, both the shampoo and conditioner. Excellent product, best I've found. Makes the leather nice and soft and refreshes the leather smell.

Thanks for your post. I am looking for the same, a touch up for minor marks on black leather in a BMW. I agree that their website is rubbish. The page you linked to suggests also that there are 3 different variants of black that BMW use and that they source from several countries so they advise sending in a sample to match. I'll be interested to know how you get on as to me all black elather looks similar enough, especially on BMWs.

You'll find the conditioner alone will hide most scuffs etc.......

So you reccomend then? I spend about a day doing my leather with autoglym, does make a lot of difference, but i need something to get rid of blemishes.Sounds like i'll give this a try

Kak, I hadn't noticed that comment about the BMW Black.

I filled in the online order for a year 2000 320 with Black leather. They haven't contacted me yet to say there's an issue and they have my email and phone numbers.
We'll see if anything arrives in the post in the next couple of days. If it does I'll put an update on here.

The parcel arrived in the post today chaps. I heard nothing from Liquidleather.
A little box containing an even littler box, an idiot guide, a range of products leaflet and a thing telling you all about leather - well, not quite ALL thank goodness
The mouse is there to give you an idea of the size of the box and the bottles.
The bottles contain (left to right) Gloss Enhancer, Colour Toner, Black Dye, Colour Toner.
Although it says on the bottle of dye the colour code is on the side, it isn't. So I can't give you a clue what code or ref they use.
The idiot guide says to leave the bottles upside down overnight before use. So I'll report back tomorrow when I've had a go with it.

Good luck. Its got me thinking bout the colour issue, black isn't too bad for hiding stuff, but what if they give you the wrong colour when you have the lighter coloured leathers like me, mines grey.

Good luck mate. I think this different shades of BMW matt black stuff sounds like nonsense to me. FOr touching up minor scuffs I can't imagine it'll make any difference.

It should look fab when you've finished and it'll be nice to know if they get marked again years down the line, you can deal with it.

Before


During - Phase 1 : neat dye applied with a wooden toothpick


During - Phase 2 : watered down dye applied over larger area


During - Phase 3 : watered down dye mixed with Gloss Enhancer


I have one more phase to do which is to treat the dyed areas with cleaner/conditioner.
I've done the rest of the car with this today so just need to do the bits which were dyed today and the jobs finished. Its really made a difference to the car and I'll get an 'After' photo of the drivers seat tomorrow and post before/after shots of that too so you can see the difference its made.
In total I spent about 5hrs sorting out the whole interior and I think it was time and money very well spent.

And when you're looking at those pictures trying to spot the scuff in the last shot, note how much closer in you are than in the first picture!

I've finally got around to purchasing a pack of scuff master myself, so will post with results.
