Just an enquiry?

Ive got a E46 330ci, i'm pleased with it so far, however the rear nearside bulb warning light has come up on the display showing a brake light is out! Yesterday when i took it out the warning light had extinguished itself and the brake light was working, now today i get in it take it down the road and yep you guessed it the display light has come on again and after checking, no nearside brake light... I'm no expert but surely a loose conection somewhere!! But where???

Can anyone help me out as a DIY, before i have to take it anywhere.

Its coming up for being 6 years old so by no means a new car.

However highly annoying and i'm bound to be pulled at some point.

Hello there,
Not much help in finding the cause; however exactly the same thing was happening to me in my e46 330ci sport a while back - advisory light on one day, then off, then on etc... then it went off, and has stayed off for the last 6 months.
I'm now enjoying the same with the check oil level light. Might do something about it... coffeenb I check the oil level each day- it's fine.

my 330 tourer was showing checklight on nsf sidelight. As I checked bulb, it came on, warning went out. Then next time I used it, same thing happened. and again, and again. So swapped nsf for osf. The check light showed the problem had moved. So moved bulb holder back to the other side but left bulb on the right. Fault came up on the right, suggesting blown bulb, but it was lit. So I just put in a new bulb anyway and all is well. The missus had driven though deep water and I thought that may have caused a problem, but all is dry now.

So try moving the bulbs around and see if the problem moves to icsolate the cause

Thanks for all the info....Didnt think anyone would reply to this at its electrical, and i know how much people 'dont do electrics'...

I will be moving the bulbs around soon when time permits. Might even get myself some new bulb holders.

My Oil level warning light has been on a few times and likewise i check mine very often and its not low whatsoever

All this has come about since the bad weather so now its a (bit) drier our lights may extinguish.

Thanks

The filaments on these bulbs tend to split, you you loose the connection and the warning light comes on, go over a bump and they connect again and all is fine, just need a new bulb mate.

Does your oil light come on for 10 secs then go out again.
